2 Ways to Travel on a Budget

After this crazy past year, we have had, we all deserve a safe break! That’s especially true for those of us managing a business who never feel we can get away – either due to time or money, or both. My family and I are recommitting to weekend trips. There’s something that’s so refreshing about visiting new surroundings even if it’s only for a short time. But as a family of 5, we always have to be careful about how much we’re spending. At first I thought it would be difficult to visit new locations on a budget, but after doing some research and using the tips below, we were able to find amazing places to visit that were both affordable and fun. Let’s face it, any time you take a weekend trip, it’s going to cost money. Two nights in hotels, probably planes or trains to travel there and back, food on top of that — we all know it adds up. But there are plenty of ways to save money! Here are 2 tips for keeping vacation costs low.

The first way is to pick a cheap location. Do some research, find deals, and make sure you get the best. The public rate isn’t always great, but it can be more reasonable at times. We recently visited the W Atlanta Midtown in Atlanta for a weekend. Not only was it reasonably priced, but also incredibly close to downtown which made for an awesome location. If you’re ever traveling with kids, we all know making them sit in the hotel room tethered to electronics can be challenging. Hotel experiences like this one where you can stroll down to the local shops, restaurants, and attractions make it a bit easier. There’s just something about a weekend getaway that makes you feel like everything is fresh and new. It’s so refreshing to go out of your normal surroundings. Staying at a hotel will help keep costs down while offering the comforts of home when you’re away from home. It allows my family to have some time together for some rest, relaxation, and entertainment.

But after searching and taking a few vacations I realized that there are only so many affordable travel locations to visit, especially when on as tight of a budget as we are. And of course, the kids start asking questions like, “Why can’t we go here” or “there” and it can easily get frustrating. Of course, you want to visit these nice places, it just isn’t on the budget. That’s when I discovered the greatest tip of all, private user travel discounts. I stumbled upon Hotels Etc. back in February of this year and it has been a life-changing experience. Finding great weekend travel deals can seem like an impossible feat, but I’ve found some amazing weekend hotel deals and packages not just for my kids, but for couples as well. I guarantee using this platform will save you a lot of money, and lead to you and your family taking either more vacations or a few big ones!
